Beach Party!

April 26th, 2008 | by User Imagemarlowjust with No Comments »

There are some really cool places to visit in Second Life. Whether you are new or a seasoned Second Life pro, I’ll be going around to some parties, places, and must see attractions to give you the scoop. For my first stop, I thought a beach party would be nice.
It’s always fun to get your groove on to reggae music while basking in the hot hot sun. Here at Irie Vibes you can party it up right on the beach. That’s right, a popular beach party destination every Saturday where you can listen to 8 hours of reggae music and dance under the palms.

It’s paradise…oh not to mention you can relax in beach chairs while you enjoy the party or you can sit on the beach itself.

Relax.

Party. This destination is pretty popular so don’t be worried about a dud party. When I made my way into the action, there were people dancing, talking, and relaxing all over the place.

Dance. Dance to the beat of reggae 24/7! I don’t know why, but recently the people/ avatars in SL have appeared as lines and blobs. Anyone else experiencing that? You can see evidence of the problem in these snapshots I took.

That wraps up my visit. Until next time, sip a pina colada and
be sure to check it out every Saturday!

Put Another Nickle In!!

February 24th, 2008 | by User ImagePocket with 1 Comment

Without a doubt, shopping is one of Second Life’s most popular activities along with clubbing and dancing the night away. But if you fancy something a little different then I’d suggest you visit the Nickel Arcade run by Rhaorth Antonelli…a very cool person indeed. Well, anyone who could come up with such a fun little place has to be cool!!

The Nickel Arcade is by far one of my favourite places to visit and play a few old-school arcade games such as ‘Whack-a-Mole’, ‘Invaders’ and almost every other arcade game you can think of. There’s even a great looking pool table and a dance

floor. You can pick up a ticket roll that you can wear whilst playing the various games, earning you ‘points’, which you can then exchange for some fun prizes.

This place is very authentic and I just love the arcade atmosphere……it’s very like the real thing. So if you’d like to visit Rhaorth’s ‘Nickel Arcade’ then here’s the slurl..

Old Age!

January 25th, 2008 | by User ImagePocket with 4 Comments

Well, I’m now 57 minutes into my 39th year on the planet.  Just one more year left of being a ‘thirtysomething’.. so I should probably make the most of it…do something exciting and wild, really let my hair down.

So what have I done so far that’s wild and crazy???  I went visiting SL gardens using the Windlight viewer Innocent

I did happen to enjoy it though, nice and peaceful, very tranquil etc, somehow that doesn’t seem like a recipie for getting crazy but there ya go!  Anyway, I just thought I’d share a few of the pics and of course, this time I’ve included the slurls if you’d like to visit these places in person.

THE ZEN GARDENS OF ACHEMON

Had a lovely cup of tea with Buddah, we had a little chat about the meaning of life.  I explained to him that it was my birthday and had he any suggestions as to how I should spend it.  He told me to go ride a bike!  So I did Surprised

Here you’ll notice that my skirt has ‘dissappeared’… so my advice to anyone who wants to go ride a bike…. wear shorts and not a flowing prim skirt…

THE LOST GARDENS OF APOLLO

I really enjoyed the scenery in this garden.. quite a few little corners where you could ‘be at one with nature’ so to speak.  I didn’t explore all of this time around, but I do plan to go back for a visit as soon as I can.

Before leaving though, I decided to spend a little time reflecting on my impending ‘old age’..lol

ARIKLA’S PARADISE

I really like this place, it’s very simple and picturesque, lovely waterfalls and lots of places that you can sit and relax.  I actually had visited this place way back in May of last year, when I’d first entered Second Life.  It also has some beautiful Celtic music playing in the background.

Just sitting and wondering to myself ‘where has the time gone’……..

I’ve started to develop a habit of taking all my SL pics into Photoshop and sometims filtering them to death.  With the above pics, all I did was to re-size them, no filters or effects.  I have to say that I really like Windlight, especially for taking scenery shots etc.  All of the above pictures were taken using the ’sunset’ setting.  So far my favourite aspect of Windlight is how the light reflects off the water.

So there you have it, that’s how I spent my first hour of being 39!  But who knows, maybe later on things might get a big crazier!

SL Gardens

January 12th, 2008 | by User ImagePocket with No Comments »

I had a little time yesterday, so I decided to do some exploring.  We all know that there are thousands of clubs, shops and malls in SL…but there are also some extremely beautiful gardens.  One in particular being the SL Botanical Gardens.  So I decided to pay it a visit and I’m very glad I did.  It’s a beautiful place, very well landscaped and there’s lots to do.  You can meditate, get a massage, float in a grotto and even take a ride in a gondola.

I did have a little trouble with the gondola, but I soon got the hang of it.  It was such a nice experience and actually the first time I’ve ever used a ‘vehicle’ in SL. I may just do it more often now. I guess I’ll have to dig up that helicopter out of the darkest depths of my inventory!

I would imagine that this would be the perfect place to bring a loved one, or indeed to just take some pictures, maybe get a few ideas for your own garden.  There has obviously been a lot of time spent on making this sim a place that one can go to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, a nice change from shopping ….. (which we all need badly…especially me)

So if you have some spare SL time, why not pay a visit to the SL Botanical Gardens and don’t forget to bring along your camera.
