All you Second Lifers out there might enjoy this cool nich expo for virtual worlds. There are four main categories right now:
Virtual Worlds Hollywood
Enterprise Virtual Worlds
Kids Virtual Worlds
The Future of Virtual Worlds
I was going through the list of speakers and I noticed that no one from Linden Labs will be speaking. [As of yet] You would think Second Life would be a big part of this expo. If you are going to be in the Los Angeles area Sept. 3rd-4th, 2008 reserve your spot and stop by. Should be interesting! If anyone goes…comment on this post and let us know about it.

I thought I would include some user data currently for Second Life. I was afraid Second Life was losing ground, but this data shows an upward trend.

Just doing a bit of decorating in my SL home today, minding my own business..when I get a friend request from someone I don’t know and with whom I’ve never spoken. So I declined it, then I get another one from the same person..well this time curiousity had gotten the better of me. So I sent this person an IM…just saying " Hello, I’ve noticed that you’ve sent me a few friend requests..etc.." Well, the person replied with " yea, I’m sorry about that , I hate when people do that to me". Eh….okay then, thought nothing more of it. Anyway, this guy was a brand new resident… I was still curious as to how he’d gotten my name, so of course I asked him. He told me that I was a member of the same group as he was, and that he’d noticed that I was online so he’d thought he’d ‘try his luck’. I had a peek at his profile and indeed he was a new-born, but he sure belonged to an awful lot of groups. He then started IM’ing me again, asking me how old I was, and if I could TP him to where I was..I politely refused.. He started to ask me once again how old I was…agghhhh! I once again put my ‘polite hat’ on and told him that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to demand answers from someone who he’d never met or seen before. I think he actually got offended because I wouldn’t answer his questions or tell him how old I was.. I just got fed up in the end and I closed the IM session.
I’m sure that this has happened to quite a few SL residents. Personally, I think that you have to know the person a little, have chatted a while before you either send or accept friend requests.
I’m just wondering how you all handle these kind of situations?
